Newton Northern Nevada
About Newton Northern Nevada
A Second Start learning disabilities non-profit school for grades K-12
Our social-cognitive private school is dedicated to serving students diagnosed on the higher end of the autism spectrum and with similar disabilities. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to reach their fullest potential, and we work tirelessly to provide personalized support that nurtures growth, independence, and confidence. By supporting our students and their families, we work together to build a brighter future, one where every child is empowered to grow, learn, and thrive.

Vision
We create an individualized, high-quality academic and social approach to achieve a dynamic level of success in every child’s future. This is accomplished by partnering with families and the community to provide a safe, fun, and supportive learning environment led by passionate and understanding staff.
The Newton Learning Center opened its doors in September 2008.
Licensed as a Private School with the Nevada Department of Education, our school functions as a social-cognitive school for students needing a more individualized approach. The need for individualized attention in the areas of academics and social thinking is critical to our students.
Many of our students have been diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum or similar disorders and find it difficult to concentrate for long periods of time in large mainstream school classrooms. Our school has a low student to classroom staff ratio of 8:1. Our program is intensive and produces results. Many of our students have quickly advanced grade levels, many advancing several grades during a short period of time. Elective offerings are created to meet the requirements set forth by the Nevada Department of Education.

Our Program
Our Goal
Our ultimate goal at the Newton Learning Center is to provide our students the appropriate skill set to successfully navigate the social realm. We pride ourselves in being able to see our students transition out of our school, back into a comprehensive learning environment, and continue to reach their full potential simultaneously.
Day School Program
Newton provides a social-cognitive approach to academics for students K-12. Parents are often motivated to seek out programs that go beyond the special education resources available in public schools. We firmly believe in each of our students reaching their own potential through a proven method that allows for educational growth.
